The flow of the Middle Verdon river being regulated by a dam, water activities such as rafting, cano-raft, air-boat and hydrospeed are possible only when the dam is releasing water.

In the spring (April until June), on the Middle Verdon, the water releases occur on an irrregular basis. In the absence of water releases, trips can be run on the Upper-Verdon, above the dam, thanks to the thawing of the snow, in the Fontgaillarde gorges, 30 mn drive from Castellane.

In the summer (July and August), on the Middle Verdon, the dam releases take place on a regular basis, but usually only on Tuesdays and Fridays. The Upper Verdon is then not runnable and therefore, is not an option for rafting. However, the days without water releases are a great opportunity to discover the Verdon gorges through the water rambling activity in summer.
